Rooted in sounds from across the African diaspora, DJs Effygasm and Kwey build spaces for connection. Off Wax is one of those spaces.
Each night, an artist takes the stage with a live band. Off Wax offers them the chance to bring their music to life in a way that feels close — to revisit, reimagine, or reveal. Think: MTV Unplugged if it was softly lit, deeply Black, and carefully built for community.
This night Off Wax presents Mack OC, a Nigerian-American Afrobeat artist from the Twin Cities whose music blends culture, versatility, and genuine human connection. After the performance, Effy + Kwey close the night with a DJ set, keeping the energy warm, rooted, and in flow.

Kwey is a Ghanaian American DJ and event curator based in Minneapolis. His sets reflect the soundscape of the African diaspora, blending everything from amapiano and gqom to batida, Afro house, and future beats.

Effygasm is a dynamic Minneapolis-based Kenyan DJ and video director. With a passion for rhythm and storytelling, Effygasm specializes in blending amapiano, jazz house, baile funk, and Afrobeats, creating sets that resonate with diverse audiences. Known for her unique sound and captivating visuals, Effygasm brings a fresh, engaging energy to every performance.

Mack OC draws inspiration from a wide range of sounds and experiences, creating music that moves beyond genres and speaks to people from different walks of life. Known for bringing an experience to every performance, he approaches the stage as an opportunity to create a shared moment, tell a story, and connect with his audience on a personal level. Rooted in his Nigerian heritage and shaped by his life in Minnesota, Mack OC continues to carve out his own lane, using music as a bridge between the African and Black American experience in America.
