Guitarist Cecil Alexander, drummer Danny McGonegle and bassist Rob Linton will present two sets of acrobatic originals and reimaginings of the Great American Songbook. Cecil is known for his versatility as a guitarist, so expect long, complex bebop lines as well as climactic, rock-like synchronization amongst the trio.

Band Members:
Cecil Alexander - Guitar
Danny McGonegle - Drums
Rob Linton - Bass

Cecil Alexander brings a deeply rooted approach to the jazz tradition while pushing boldly into the present. He is equally influenced by Jimi Hendrix and George Benson, and this lineage comes through in the fiery playing of his trio, where the lines between rock and bebop are delightfully blurred. Cecil’s versatility and artistry have earned him top honors, such as finalist in the 2019 Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition. Jazz Guitar Today has described him as “steeped in the rich history of the guitarists that have come before him,” while Jazzwise has praised him as “a superb guitarist in the bop tradition, with bags of taste, swing and chops.”

As a performer, Cecil has toured extensively with Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott), bringing his distinctive guitar voice to major stages and festivals around the world. He is currently signed to Heartcore Records, the Berlin-based label founded by legendary jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, with whom he released his debut album, Introducing, in 2022. Cecil continues to expand his artistic scope through deeply personal and collaborative projects, including Duos, an intimate guitar-and-voice recording with his wife vocalist Ari Alexander, and their forthcoming album Kaleidoscope, set for release in April 2026.

In addition to his work as a performer, Cecil is a highly regarded educator, having served as an assistant professor of guitar at Berklee College of Music from 2021 to 2023. Cecil was one of the youngest faculty hires in the school’s history, having previously taught at UCLA’s Global Jazz Studies program. He now collaborates extensively with JazzLessonVideos.com.
