Vocalist Dakota Andersen and Pianist Ethan Ostrow’s duo project breathes new life into old standards, introduces moving original compositions, and pays homage to songs across the popular music spectrum. These skilled improvisers approach the music with an infectious joy and passion that warmly invites the audience into their space.

Ethan Ostrow is a Minneapolis-based pianist and composer who strives to create an intense, lush sound. A recent transplant from New York City, Ostrow has quickly established himself in Minnesota, performing and recording with the Snapped Open Mic band, Omar Abdulkarim, Abinnet Berhanu, Ashley DuBose, Adam Bohanan, Kathleen Johnson, Dakota Andersen, Leslie Vincent, Toussaint Morrison, the Twin Cities Latin Jazz Orchestra, and more. He has performed at venues including the Dakota, Crooners, the Cedar Cultural Center, Green Room, and Berlin. Ostrow has also performed extensively across the United States and abroad in Havana and Tokyo. His time in NYC included performances at Birdland, Dizzy’s, Chelsea Table & Stage, Nublu, and Rockwood Music Hall with musicians such as Dayna Stephens, Kellin Hanas, and Nick Marziani.
Dakota Andersen is a vocalist, songwriter, arranger, and educator based in Minneapolis. Most recently, he released his debut album of 10 original jazz compositions titled Switchgrass in April 2026. Switchgrass encompasses a wide range of vocal jazz styles, draws heavily on inspiration from nature, and features a heavy-hitting lineup of Twin Cities musicians: Ben Ehrlich, Dan Carpel, Stephanie Wieseler, Ethan Ostrow, Ernest Bisong, Jackson Peters, and Rachel Bearinger. Dakota is originally from Fairfield, Iowa, and holds a Bachelor's degree in choral music education from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master's degree in vocal jazz studies from the University of North Texas.
