Son de Cuerdas will perform pieces and songs from Latin America, blending the vibrant flavor of this music with the subtleties of harp/piano/flute instrumentation. Cellist Denise Hernandez of Havana Quartet will also perform as a special guest.

Established in 2023, the Latin American ensemble Son de Cuerdas engages multicultural communities through performances, workshops, and collaborations in Minnesota. They partner with organizations such as Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, Laurel School of Music, and YourClassical MPR’s Class Notes, bringing bilingual programming to schools and community centers across the state.
Son de Cuerdas’ repertoire features classical works by both established and underrepresented Latin American composers. Their audiences include students, educators, families, and community elders, with a particular emphasis on people who see their cultural identity reflected in the ensemble’s work.
