Witching Hour feat. GLIA

$15 (General Admission)
7:00pm Show

Madeleine Melloy and Sylvia Jennings present Witching Hour, a monthly series inspired by the surreal hours of the night. Each evening, curators Melloy and Jennings will thin the veil through DJ sets and invite a live act to interpret the mood. Plus: live projections by Moqui Joy.

For the inaugural Witching Hour, GLIA will perform songs from her self-produced debut EP, only who & what you can't live without. Her celestial songwriting combined with ambient instrumentation creates an otherworldly sound.

⊹

GLIA — from the Greek word meaning “glue” — is an alias of Jasmine Lee Johnson, an artist and producer from Minneapolis and Los Angeles. Glial cells are necessary to the mind’s survival, supporting the nervous system and protecting the transport of thought. Johnson believes that music creation intimately shares this purpose.

Johnson is driven by an innate desire to understand the self in connection to love, pain, the limitations of the body and its time on earth, and a relationship with a higher power. She uses atmospheric sounds to imitate this journey as she experiences it. Honoring memory, dreaming of possibility.

⊹

Madeleine Melloy (Mudd) is a DJ and record collector from Minneapolis. Her lifelong nickname and selector moniker is inspired by the Mudd Club and the sounds of ‘80s downtown New York dance haunts. Driven by discovery and informed by her experience in selecting for both radio and nightlife, she blends ethereal synth pop with the driving basslines of new wave, house, and disco.

Sylvia Jennings began curating music as a DJ at Radio K, where she hosted Off the Record and Clashed Attitudes, specializing in local and punk music. This led to roles in music promotion for The Current and the electronic-goth event series Dark Energy. After years of immersing herself in underground techno and DIY club culture, Jennings stepped behind the decks. Her DJ sets stitch together darkwave, French house, contemporary pop, acid house, industrial rock, and more — ethereal, groovy, and always moody.
