7:00pm Show
Pianist Hans Fuerst and his band DLC (Down Loadable Collective) celebrate Fuerst’s latest album, Evolutions in Game Sounds. Fuerst started DLC while studying at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to connect his two loves: the jazz tradition and video game music (VGM). This incredibly dynamic show features music from the greater VGM songbook, bringing this generation’s “terminally online” tastes to the language of the Twin Cities’ eclectic improvisational music scene.
Band Members:
Hans Fuerst - Piano/Keys
Will DeBlaey - Bass
Laeton Olaleye - Saxophone
RAWTWHYLAH - Drums
⊹
Hailing from Madison, WI, and growing up on the internet, Hans Fuerst fell in love with music primarily through the songs he listened to while playing (or spectating) video games. Now, his life goal is to learn and share as much of the language of game music as he can — and find his voice within it. Fuerst is still a fresh face to the Twin Cities’ music scene, but he took to the environment while playing with groups such as Abandon Quest and the Race Hoglund Quintet and writing original music for video games with Shattered Skye Games. Fuerst also plays violin with the Twin Cities Gamer Symphony Orchestra (TCGSO), bringing orchestra VGM to the Cities.
In DLC, Fuerst teams up with his longtime musical partner, Will DeBlaey, and the Twin Cities’ own RAWTWHYLAH and Laeton Olaleye to explore what VGM has to offer. The band is extremely dynamic, able to switch moods on the fly and take big swings when improvising together. Nothing is off limits for DLC so long as the song itself is honored in the process.
