Three-time DownBeat Rising Star Alyssa Allgood returns to Berlin for a night of reimagined standards, heartfelt originals, and adventurous improvisation with her quartet.

Alyssa Allgood is a jazz vocalist, songwriter, bandleader, and three-time DownBeat magazine Critics Poll Rising Star based in Chicago, praised for her “force, clarity and jazz integrity” (NYC Jazz Record). Drawing from both the vocal and instrumental jazz traditions, she performs heartfelt originals and contemporary arrangements of standards with a voice that moves from tender to bold. Her “improvisational prowess” (DownBeat) puts her at the center of the band’s conversation.
The inaugural winner of the Ella Fitzgerald Competition, Allgood has commanded iconic stages, including Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, Dizzy’s Club, Birdland, Mezzrow, the Green Mill, the Jazz Showcase, and Blues Alley. She has recorded with internationally acclaimed musicians Geoffrey Keezer, John Patitucci, Kendrick Scott, and Greg Ward, and her compositions were selected as finalists in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and International Songwriting Competition. Her next album, co-produced by two-time GRAMMY winner Nicole Zuraitis and developed through the Chamber Music America Performance Plus Grant, arrives in spring 2027.

Julius Tucker is a pianist, composer, bandleader, and producer. His musical voice encompasses multiple genres, from jazz to house music. He is especially known for his complex sensitivities and agile fluidity on the piano and keyboard. Tucker has had the opportunity to play at notable venues around the Chicagoland area, including the Green Mill, Room 43, Andy’s Jazz Club, Winter’s Jazz Club, Constellation, the Jazz Showcase, and The Promontory.

Ethan Philion is an award-winning bassist, composer, and bandleader based in Chicago. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and DePaul University, Philion has been praised by the Washington Post for his “well honed chops and astounding musicality.” His debut album, Meditations on Mingus, was commended as “a labor of conspicuous love and respect for a musical titan” by DownBeat magazine. He has performed with an extensive list of jazz artists including Rufus Reid, Greg Ward, Dana Hall, Mark Feldman, Russ Johnson, Howard Levy, Ryan Cohan, Tito Carillo, Gary Bartz, Alfonso Ponticelli, Ernest Dawkins, Geof Bradfield, Dee Alexander, Mark Gross, Alyssa Allgood, Thaddeus Tooks, Victor Garcia, Mike Allemana, Mai Sugimoto, and Paul Marinaro.

Jon Deitemyer has established himself as a unique and versatile voice in modern jazz drumming. After graduating from the University of North Texas, where he studied with Ed Soph and Lynn Seaton, Deitemyer settled in Chicago and quickly became a fixture in the city’s expansive creative music community. Deitemyer has been a member of Greenleaf artist Matt Ulery’s various ensembles since 2006, and he currently performs with ArtistShare recording artist Patricia Barber. In addition, Deitemyer has performed and recorded with Zach Brock, Phil Markowitz, Ben Paterson (MaxJazz), Grazyna Auguscik (EMI), Renee Fleming, Lynne Arriale, and American Public Media’s “A Prairie Home Companion.”
