Late Night Lounge: Grady (Not Grady)

$5 at the Door 10:45pm DJ Set

Grady (Not Grady) will spin an all-vinyl set spanning from the quirky to the sublime. Expect: dubby downtempo disco, stoner jazz, Europop noir, VHS-era scores, slinky street-soul and global grooves—all blended with a hazy, cinematic flow. Think: Miami Vice meets Minnesota Nice.

Grady (Not Grady) is a vinyl collector and DJ with more than 20 years of experience. Coming up in Chicago’s early-2000s artist-loft scene, he learned to mix records between noise-rock bands at Texas Ballroom, the live/work/performance space he resided in and co-managed. In the mid-aughts, he moved to Honolulu, spending more than 5 years as a resident at Waikiki EDITION and thirtyninehotel, playing alongside Prins Thomas, James Murphy, Thomas Bullock, Eric Duncan, DJ Garth, and his fellow resident DJ Harvey. Since moving to Minneapolis, he has played at The Lowry, Steady Pour, Beast Barbeque for Housewerk, Dusty's Bar for The Nitty Gritty, and moto-i for Hi-Fi Pop-Up. Grady lives for connecting the dots between disco, jazz, punk, and electronic music.
