Heavily influenced by the groove-rich soul jazz of the 1960s and 1970s, guitarist Ross Clowser and organist Mitch Towne pay tribute to the often underrated music of guitarist Grant Green's later career, which often reimagined hits from The Corporation, The Meters, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, and more.

Band Members:
Ross Clowser - Guitar
Mitch Towne - Organ
Tarek Abdelqader - Drums
Anna Dolde - Alto Saxophone
Jovon Williams - Tenor Saxophone

Hailing from the prairies of Iowa, Ross Clowser is an American composer, improviser, scholar, and guitarist. He has been performing his original music throughout the Midwest for the past decade, sharing stages with Ohad Talmor and Melvin Butler and opening for the likes of Chad Taylor and Joshua Abrams. His music draws on influences from all over the world, from Jeff Parker and David Bowie to Pauline Oliveros and Fela Kuti. His current projects include the Ross Clowser Quartet, the free improvisation trio Hanson/Hirsh/Clowser, the Interstellar Cowboy Band, and the intermedia/film collective People Electric.

Mitch Towne is a Grammy-nominated keyboardist and touring musician. His ability to move seamlessly between diverse styles has made him a sought-after sideman; he has performed with multi-platinum artists John “J.R.” Robinson, Buddy Miles, and Aloe Blacc; jazz/R&B artist and Grammy-winning producer Terrace Martin; jazz heavyweights Tom Scott, Ryan Kisor, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Matt Wilson, Dave Stryker, Jerry Bergonzi, Joel Frahm, Troy Roberts, and Dan Wilson; and blues artist Eric Gales.

Tarek Abdelqader is a Minneapolis-based composer and musician. He has produced and performed his own work under various monikers and with myriad collaborators, and he regularly supports regional and international acts as a drummer. Abdelqader also works as an accompanist, composer, and sound designer for dance collectives based in the Twin Cities and New York, including Body Watani, Ananya Dance Theater, Paula Mann, and Limón Dance Company.

Anna Dolde is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who is from Seattle and lives in Minneapolis. Her primary instrument is saxophone, but she also sings and plays flute and bass clarinet for projects across the Twin Cities, including Rabeca, Willow Waters, Freaque, and Superbus Maximus. Her goal as a musician is to present vulnerability and visceral emotional energy through music.

Jovon Williams is an up-and-coming legend in the Minnesota music scene. Greatly respected by audiences and peers alike, Jovon will cut through you with unbelievable speed, or eat you alive with such a beautiful tone that your skin might fall from your bones. Be careful, the stove is hot—tread lightly so you don't get burned. Jovon will feed you a delicious sonic meal that you have never before tasted and may never taste again.
