Early Evening Jazz: Kai Sartin Trio

NO COVER 4:30pm Show

Kai Sartin, Eli Brunelle, and Seth Ziemniak first connected while performing in MacPhail’s Fusion Ensemble under the direction of acclaimed instructors David Feily, Dr. Christopher Rochester, and Arthur “LA” Buckner. Through that experience, they built lasting musical chemistry that inspires their collaboration today. The trio will be performing two dynamic sets of classics, originals, and fresh takes on contemporary tunes.

Kai Sartin is a saxophonist from the Twin Cities who currently studies at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, working with world-renowned artists such as John Daversa, Etienne Charles, and Marcus Strickland. He served as lead alto in the Minnesota All-State Jazz Band for two consecutive years and draws inspiration from modern jazz greats like Kenny Garrett and Michael Brecker. Known for his modern approach and distinctive tone, Sartin has developed a unique sound on the saxophone that reflects his individuality and deep connection to contemporary jazz.

Eli Brunelle is a rising force in today’s music scene and a multi-talented musician whose passion, versatility, and creative drive set him apart. As a student at Berklee College of Music’s prestigious Aspire program, Brunelle expanded his talents as a bassist. His original track “Love on Your Mind” earned him a spot in Berklee’s Singer-Songwriter Showcase.

Originally from Minneapolis, drummer Seth Ziemniak now studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he lives and breathes melodia. Deeply influenced by jazz and R&B, Ziemniak brings an intuitive, thoughtful approach to every project he takes on. With his strength and growing presence as both a performer and composer, Ziemniak is quickly emerging as a drummer to watch in the modern music scene.
