NYC-based pianist and composer Will Kjeer was once called “a pianist of exceptional heart” by the late, legendary guitar player Russell Malone. Currently touring with folk legend Judy Collins, Kjeer is also a member of the prestigious Jazz Artist Diploma ensemble at the Juilliard School, where he also received a Master of Music degree in 2024. Standing at the crossroads of contemporary jazz, folk, and classical music, he has performed and recorded with artists including Dave King, Jerry Bergonzi, Adam Nussbaum, Sinne Eeg, and Karrin Allyson, and he is a regular touring collaborator with the classically trained crossover cello duo Empire Wild. Kjeer has performed his award-winning, lyrical compositions across the United States at venues including the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Ravinia’s Bennett Gordon Hall in Chicago, and Dizzy’s at Lincoln Center. He has won numerous awards including Ravinia’s Bridges Composition Competition, the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition, the Angel City Jazz Festival Young Artist Competition, and the Jazz Fest Bonn International JazzBeet Competition. He is an alumni of Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead and the Steans Music Institute, and he has performed for Herbie Hancock as a finalist for admission to the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute.
