Berlin combines state of the art sound and hospitality with the charm and intimacy of a European-inspired jazz club.

Keeping with its namesake city, Berlin features a variety of experimental music from jazz, ambient, and electronic programming.

No reservations needed or accepted, with the exception of ticketed shows on Fridays and Saturdays. First come, first served.

Berlin is open 6 nights a week from
4pm-12am (4pm-1am on Friday and Saturday).

CULINARY DIRECTOR

Jamie Malone

Jamie has always had a life that revolved around food. She grew up cooking and baking bread with her dad in St. Paul, Minnesota. She has traveled extensively through Europe and Asia studying cuisines. In 2017 Jamie opened her first restaurant Grand Café, and in 2018 her restaurant was a Semifinalist for the the James Beard Award Foundations “Best New Restaurant”, and was also named Food and Wine magazine’s “Best New Restaurant”. Jamie has been a four times nominee for James Beard Award Foundations “Best Chef Midwest.” Most recently, Malone has created Paris Dining Club & Studio. You can find Jamie at her North Loop Studio hosting events and creating new experiences for people who love food.

Nathaniel Hodne

When Nathaniel was deciding on where to attend culinary school, it was the unique music scene of the Twin Cities that ultimately made him choose to start his career here in 2010. Nathaniel worked for a few of the highly regarded fine dining establishments of Saint Paul and Minneapolis before departing for the Pacific Northwest in 2019. He returned to Minneapolis after the pandemic because of his deep appreciation for the community and culture of the Twin Cities’ hospitality industry. Nathaniel is excited to be part of Berlin’s leadership team because of its goal to provide an inviting space for everyone to enjoy live performances.

Jenna Schmidt

Born-and-raised in Minnesota, Jenna fell in love with the distinct style of hospitality that makes this state feel like home. Her background across roles in the industry informs her personal style of service and the way she adapts to guests from all walks of life. She loves the way music can shift the course of an evening or even a whole perspective, and is excited for the prospect of providing a comfortable space for the exploration of what music can be to this community.

Ruby Langworthy

Ruby is passionate about good hospitality and good humor.  As a long-time, established bartender in the Twin Cities, dedicated to creating a welcoming and service forward environment, she has rubbed elbows with mayors and miscreants, displaying the breadth of her experience through guest service. With her knowledge of spirits, flavor combinations, and passion for creating, she will find a way to satisfy your palate, all while making you feel like a member of the family. She loves the collaborative aspects of restaurant work and always aims for everyone to have fun while cultivating a community where trust and continuity are front and center. She’s excited to showcase her love for true hospitality with this opportunity to be able to contribute to a perfectly curated musical evening with a perfectly curated beverage.

Alex Proctor

Alex has toured the world as a artist, tour manager, and front of house sound engineer for a list of bands that includes James Blake, Kamasi Washington, Foster the People, Andy Grammer, Grace Potter, Portugal the Man, Polica and Charli XCX, to name a few. Alex comes with an artist first mentality and prides himself on prioritizing the musicians he works with. He is also a recording engineer and has been a part of multiple Grammy nominated records and also has a project of his own under the name Kid Villain. Alex looks forward to bringing a new brand of venue to the Minneapolis community and hopes to help fill a hole and provide a home for experimental music both locally, nationally and internationally.

Rich Henriksen

Rich Henriksen, CEO of Nokomis Health, a position he calls his “day job,” has long dreamed about owning a music bar before Berlin became a reality. Growing up in a large musical family whose doors were always open to guests laid the foundation for a life-long love of music, and for bringing people together. Rich is a Music Director at a local church, and can be spotted most often with his beloved 15 year old pomeranian Honey in tow. He is grateful to offer Berlin as a place for the community to gather and experience hospitality, connection, and music.
