Kavyesh Kaviraj is a critically acclaimed composer, arranger, and pianist living and working in Minnesota. The Twin Cities–based musician has worked with several internationally renowned artists, including Wynton Marsalis, David Sanchez, Justin Robinson, Roosevelt Collier, and Steve Cole. Despite being primarily a jazz pianist and having studied at Berklee College’s Global Jazz Institute, Kaviraj is also active in hip-hop, gospel, R&B, and funk scenes, and has enjoyed working with Jamecia Bennett, the Steeles, I Self Devine, Lady Midnight, Desdamona, and Nooky Jones. With a lifetime of invaluable musical experience, Kaviraj has also followed in his parents’ footsteps to become a successful music educator: both a private instructor and college professor.

Dan Carpel attended Berklee College of Music, where he was in the school’s Monterey Quartet. He was a member of Jason Palmer’s band throughout his time in Boston, and was a mainstay in their residency at Wally’s Jazz Cafe. His time on the East Coast also notably included playing in groups led by Godwin Louis, Noah Preminger, and Melissa Aldana. Since relocating to the Twin Cities, Carpel has regularly worked with Javi Santiago, Zacc Harris, and Abinnet Berhanu. He frequently performed with singer/guitarist Mary Cutrufello as well as Sonny Knight and the Lakers, and he recently became a part of Dylan Hicks’s Small Screens.

Miguel Hurtado is a professional drummer and educator based in the Midwest. Born and raised in Minneapolis, he started drumming at age 10 while attending Ramsey International Fine Arts Center. By age 14, he was playing gigs with youth jazz groups and local professional musicians. Hurtado attended the Manhattan School of Music, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in jazz performance. Since returning to the Twin Cities, he has established himself as an important member of the rich hip-hop, jazz, and experimental music scenes. His musical versatility has allowed him to collaborate with artists across many genres of music — including West African, Latin, funk, pop, and gospel — and visual arts. Hurtado can be seen playing at venues across the Midwest with artists like Lady Midnight, Your Smith, and the Minneapolis String Project.
