Cameron Kinghorn is a vocalist, trumpeter, songwriter, DJ, and educator living in Los Angeles, CA, where he relocated from Minneapolis, MN in 2020. Kinghorn performed most frequently as the frontman of the soul/R&B group Nooky Jones until 2020, and has since shifted his creative energy to the lo-fi R&B/bedroom funk group King Pari (Stones Throw Records, Acrophase Records and Peoples Potential Unlimited).
King Pari’s debut, “Mary EP,” was released in 2021 on Acrophase Records and Peoples Potential Unlimited. The debut LP from the band, “There it Goes,” was released on the world-renowned independent record label Stones Throw Records in 2024. Their most recent release, the “Flickering Light EP,” was released independently in March of 2026.
As a trumpeter, Kinghorn is most frequently seen performing with the Afrobeat/Afrofunk band Black Market Brass, whose most recent LP, “HOX,” was released in 2023 on Colemine Records. Kinghorn also played in the JazzMN Orchestra for two seasons, sharing the stage with artists including Terence Blanchard, Maria Schneider, and Wycliffe Gordon. When Kinghorn isn’t making and performing music of his own, he can be seen performing with local, national, and international artists such as Dessa and the Minnesota Orchestra, The New Standards, Aby Wolf and Champagne Confetti, and Mild High Club, with whom he performed at the 2018 Coachella Music Festival. Aside from writing, recording, and performing music, Kinghorn is a regular DJ at several venues and restaurants throughout LA, specializing in Afrobeat/Afrofunk, highlife, funk, and R&B.
Kinghorn’s other musical passion lies in music education. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Minnesota in 2013 and continues to teach private lessons in voice, trumpet, songwriting, music theory, and music production alongside his performance and touring schedule.
