◊
Alec Watson is a Minneapolis based pianist, songwriter, and improviser. Under the moniker DPCD, Watson has steadily released music ranging from minimalist folk to haunted parlor ballads. Joining him are Twin Cities power duo Dave Power (Drums) and Pat Keen (Bass), who have collaborated on numerous projects including 58 Belvedere, Jake La Botz, Voulouse, and Humbird. The trio performs intriguing and melodic improvised music, as well as original songs and group compositions.
As a player and producer, Pat Keen brings his jazz roots into experimentation across all genres, challenging folk narratives and reshaping traditional instrumentation. Keen’s improvisational influence and extended techniques shine through his ensemble work, finding comfort in mixed meters, sophisticated harmonies, and inventive instrumental manipulation. Regardless of what he’s doing, he exudes a contagious enthusiasm while performing.
Dave Power becomes the last missing puzzle piece in every ensemble he joins. Whether it's in one of his experimental/jazz ensembles, post-punk bands, or indie pop groups, he is forever at the service of the song, communicating with cohesion. In this chaotic world, Power finds the ability to place each note with care and nuance, giving the drum set a melodic voice. The true epitome of a working musician, Power has been a touring/studio drummer for over a decade and has toured nationally and internationally with bands such as The Staves, Aero Flynn, and Adelyn Rose. He currently plays in projects including Solid Gold, Cult Vibes, Bathtub Cig, PRINTS, 58 Belvedere, and Nelson Devereaux Trio.
