Chico Chi will play a set filled with global sounds and familiar songs with a bit of a twist. Grounded in percussive sounds, their set will take you places you didn't know you needed to go.
Chico Chi (he/they) is a queer and non-binary transmasculine DJ, producer, and creative who splits their time between Minnesota and California. Over the past 7 years, Chi has made their way onto stages and been featured at numerous parties across the country, sharing lineups with artists and DJs such as Princess Nokia, SOSUPERSAM, and DJ Abilities. He has DJ’d several drag and burlesque shows nationwide. In addition, Chi has been bringing his curated, multigenre vibes to private events of all kinds, including universities, queer weddings, and several LGBTQIA+ nonprofit organization events.
Chi started their DJ journey while creating safe(r) spaces and events for queer and transgender people of color in the Bay Area with Hunnies & Hot Sauce. He is also the cofounder of the music/creative production house Tender Bois Club and one of the resident DJs and organizers of Take Flight, a quarterly global music party based in the Twin Cities.
Due in part to his Chinese-Cuban roots and his experience living in cities across the United States, Chi’s music selections transcend time and space. When experiencing one of their sets, expect to be taken on a journey through nostalgia and beyond, hearing a mix of genres and sounds, as well as original remixes and mashups that’ll leave you pleasantly surprised.
