Early Evening Jazz: Steven Hobert & Ben Abrahamson

NO COVER 4:30pm Show

Steven Hobert and Ben Abrahamson will perform two sets of music on piano and guitar, respectively.

Ben Abrahamson found his path set ablaze by guitar heroes Paco de Lucía, Leo Kottke, Ralph Towner, and his first guitar teacher—Gary Lee Joyner—at age 11. Abrahamson has studied with flamenco guitarists Juan Ramón Caro at Taller de Músics in Barcelona; Pedro Cortés, Jr.; and Michael Hauser. Abrahamson has shared the stage with fingerstylist Tim Sparks, gospel artists Billy Steele and Tonia Hughes Kendrick, flamenco dancer La Conja, and Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre. He is a faculty member at MacPhail Center for Music.

Steven Hobert's sound embodies wonder and mystery. He seeks to facilitate playfulness and healing, provoke compassion, and warmly sink into the moment. Hobert performs on piano, accordion, and vocals as a soloist; with jazz project Sirclesound; with the world beat-driven ensemble FireFlyForest; and as part of Oudyano with renowned Syrian oud player Issam Rafea. He has released three albums: "Ballet," "Ocean Eyes," and "Soft Equation."
