Early Evening Jazz: Henry Dickhoff Trio

NO COVER 4:30pm Show

Organist Henry Dickhoff, guitarist Kenny Reichert, and drummer Ben Ehrlich bring a fresh spin to the classic organ trio, blending original compositions with choice standards. Expect tight interplay, adventurous improvisation, and a sound that bridges classic swing with a modern edge.

Henry Dickhoff is a jazz organist based in Chicago. He began playing Hammond organ in high school after being encouraged by his classmate and band director to check out the ubiquitous Jimmy Smith. The rest is history! Henry released his first CD, Running Start, in 2013 with his Colorado-based organ trio. While still a student at the University of North Texas, Henry’s organ group Visceral Trio toured the midwestern United States during the summer of 2016 and released a self-titled EP in 2018. Most recently, Henry's co-led organ trio Righteous Rooster released its debut album, Fowl Play, in 2024 on Shifting Paradigm Records. Fowl Play features original compositions by members of the band, and they expect to release a sophomore album in 2026.

Ben Ehrlich is a drummer, educator, and composer based in Minneapolis, MN. After studying with Ed Soph and graduating from the University of North Texas in 2018, Ben moved back to his home state and quickly became one of the top call drummers in the Twin Cities jazz scene. Recognized for his versatility, Ben has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Randy Brecker, Kurt Elling, Diane Schuur, Jens Lindemann, Davina and the Vagabonds, Javier Santiago, the JazzMN Orchestra, Leslie Vincent, and many others, including rock, blues and indie artists from around the country.

Recognized by DownBeat magazine as "a distinctive player and composer," Kenny Reichert has established himself as a compelling guitarist with an expressive, refined approach to his instrument. His artistry has been praised by All About Jazz as "masterly without being showy," and Textura has lauded his compositions for making an "immediate impression" and "warranting repeat engagement." Based between Chicago and Minneapolis, Reichert is an in-demand performer who has collaborated with artists such as Russ Johnson, Geof Bradfield, Lenard Simpson, Clark Sommers, Ethan Philion, John Christensen, Devin Drobka, Ana Everling, and Alyssa Allgood.
