DPAD will be playing two sets of mostly improvised material, showcasing guitar, bass, drums, and saxophone along with some pedal wizardry and electronic beats/samples. Some influences include SML, Alice Coltrane, and Jeff Parker.

DPAD (Dex Wolfe, Pat Keen, Anna Dolde, and Dave Power) was conceived as a Dream Machine — the eponymous title of local artist Drew Arieta’s recent evolving installation at The Walker. The group vacillates freely from grooves that nod to ‘70s electric Miles Davis to glitchy tape loops and harmonized horns a la ‘80s Jon Hassell. The quartet taps into our collective autonomic system to create improvised sound tapestries that land somewhere between early proto-ambient music, new jazz, and the hypnosis of experimental electronic and techno musics.
