⊹
Blue Earth Sound is the instrumental project of Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist and composer James Weir, blending cinematic jazz, psych, and soul.
Following the debut success of Cicero Nights, Weir returns with Everything to Remember, the second album from BES, arriving November 2026 via London's DeepMatter Records. Recorded across multiple sessions in Chicago and developed during writing retreats in rural Wisconsin, Everything to Remember is an album rooted in memory, nostalgia, and the quiet moments that shape our lives. Rather than telling stories through lyrics, Weir uses instrumental music to evoke feeling, exploring the way certain places, sounds, and melodies have the power to transport us back to another time.
Warm Fender Rhodes, Hammond organ, guitars, flute, and saxophone weave through soulful grooves and richly layered arrangements, drawing inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Johnny 'Hammond' Smith, Piero Umiliani, Talk Talk, and The Smiths, while remaining unmistakably rooted in Chicago's collaborative music scene.
