The Allison Philips Quartet shares warm, resolute melodies grounded by adventurous improvisation. According to All About Jazz, their music “functions as both a home and a vehicle (perhaps a station wagon with some miles but good bones), a place to sit thoughtfully but also venture out.” The group will share music from their recent release, Make it Better.

Allison Philips is a Brooklyn-based trumpet player, composer, and educator. From the traditional trio setting to genre-bending explorations via electronics, Philips is always searching for new ground.

Philips leads her eponymous trio and quartet and co-leads the DeiCont | Philips Collective. She is also a member of the the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and has performed with Alfa Mist, the Jonas Brothers, Japanese Breakfast, Sara McDonald’s “NY Chillharmonic,” Yo La Tengo, Alita Moses, Sungazer, and Aberdeen. She has performed on many acclaimed stages, including Carnegie Hall, The Bimhuis, Birdland Jazz Club, North Sea Jazz Festival, Bern Jazz Festival, the Festival of New Trumpet Music, Le Poisson Rouge, PENG Festival, the Jazz Standard, and New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Philips holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in jazz performance from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City and a Master of Music in jazz performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She was awarded a New York Foundation of The Arts “City Artist Corp” grant in 2021 and is a 2026 recipient of New Music USA’s “Next Jazz Legacy” grant.

Philips is currently on the faculty at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and The Kent Place School.

Isaac Levien is a bassist, composer, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. With a carefully crafted tone on the bass and an unquenchable curiosity toward learning new music, Levien thrives in diverse musical contexts. He performs in an eclectic assortment of projects in and around New York City and has shared the stage with esteemed artists across genres and generations, including Jason Palmer, Christian Sands, Rich Perry, and Javon Jackson. Levien is co-leader and bassist of the jazz collective Altus and is currently planning for the release of the band’s third album, Imagined Futures.

Connor Parks is from Orlando, FL. He received a BFA in jazz studies from the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music in New York City, where he was instructed by Jane Ira Bloom, Reggie Workman, and Dave Douglas. He privately studied with Matt Wilson, Johnathan Blake, Aaron Parks, Matt Brewer, Harish Raghavan, Amir Ziv, Ben Street, Gilad Hekselman, and Dayna Stephens. Parks has performed with Ali Sethi, Kandace Springs, Rodney Jones, Vic Juris, Darius Jones, Linda Briceño, JD Allen, Ingrid Jensen, Aaron Parks, Mcklopedia, and many others, and he currently plays with the NYC band Cafuné. He has appeared at venues ranging from the Blue Note to Madison Square Garden, and he often performs at music festivals across the country and the world. Parks is an endorsee of Innovative Percussion implements and Paiste Cymbals.

Neta Raanan is a saxophonist and composer raised in New Jersey. In her youth, Raanan was drawn to the mysterious black-and-white photos of Thelonious Monk and Lester Young hanging on the walls of New York record stores. She began attending creative music workshops across the East Coast, participating in youth ensembles and frequenting venues such as the Village Vanguard. She was educated by Berklee College of Music, gathering influences and approaches from a diverse and profound community of teachers and peers. Since earning her Master of Music degree, she has been pursuing a life in creative music. Her collaborations supporting other artists span across genres—ranging from jazz to avant garde to folk to hip-hop accompaniment—and mixed-media productions.
