The Early Planets, formed by Minneapolis based guitarist and composer Mike Wolter, performs original works that are informed by a wide range of musical styles and approaches to composition and improvisation. Influences for the group include the music of Thelonious Monk, Marc Ribot, Jeff Parker, Neil Young, Parliament Funkadelic, Ornette Coleman, Gilberto Gil, Duke Ellington, and many others. Their debut album, The Waits/ inBetween Music, featuring Cory Healey and Cody McKinney, is set to be released on Shifting Paradigm Records in June of 2024. Joining Mike Wolter will be Cody McKinney on bass, Brandon Wozniak on Saxophone, and Miguel Hurtado on drums.
