Early Evening Jazz: Jeremy Walker/Anthony Cox

Jeremy Walker is a composer and pianist. His album of original jazz art songs, Haunted Blue (heard on APM’s Composers Datebook and MPR’s New Classical Tracks), features award-winning mezzo-soprano Clara Osowski. Walker’s suite 7 Psalms, performed at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, launched American Public Media’s Radio Choir conducted by Tesfa Wondemagegnehu. Other works include the oratorio The Rage of Achilles—for classical voice and jazz ensemble, and Alma Gentil—five pieces commissioned by Consortium Carissimi for chamber choir with early baroque and jazz ensembles. In 2014, Walker founded Jazz at Orchestra Hall in the Target Atrium where he served as Artistic Director until 2019.  He continues to be an active composer and performer and his upcoming solo recording will be released in 2024.




 

Anthony Cox is internationally renowned arranger, composer, performer, recording artist and educator with extensive experience working across musical genres in traditional and contemporary interdisciplinary musical collaborations and settings.

Anthony Cox’s career has spanned over 30 years encompassing music education, composition, and performance that include an extensive list of collaborations, performances, and recordings with notable artists in the field of jazz. The list includes Sam Rivers, Joe Lovano, Geri Allen, Kenny Wheeler, Ed Blackwell, Billy Higgins, John Scofield, The NDR Big Band, Dino Saluzzi, and Henry Threadgill.
