Pianist Nancy Bierma opens the night at Berlin with her jazz trio, playing songs by Nancy’s favorite composers Keith Jarrett, Wayne Shorter, and Pat Metheny, along with some original compositions.

Nancy Bierma and Jim Bierma have played music together for decades. They have been featured in the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Iowa Jazz Festival, the Dakota, Crooners, and Jazz Central. Nancy has a degree in piano from Drake University. She has performed as a solo pianist and in groups of many sizes from duos to eight-piece bands. Nancy and Jim have worked in a variety of settings including groups with Charmin Michelle, Chreese and Geoff Jones, Debbie Duncan, and Matt French. They are in the Iowa Jazz Hall of Fame.
Nathan Norman is from Washington D.C. and a graduate of Eastman School of Music. He is one of the most requested drummers in the Twin Cities. He and Jim have worked with many musicians together throughout the years including Adi Yeshaya, Paul Harper, and Dale Alexander.
