Intellephunk resident Lauryn Lesley presents a pitched-down, heady experiment spanning ‘70s dub reggae, left-field bass, dark UKG, and jazz contained by lush trip-hop undertones fit for the lounge.
As a resident DJ with Intellephunk and a regular at The Great Beyond festival, Lauryn Lesley has built her sound around soulful psychedelia.
Having performed in many environments centering sound systems and intentional dance floors, she interweaves deep roots music, experimental bass, psych rock, Detroit techno, cosmic disco, and atmospheric jungle to create a unique fabric that meets the needs of the night.
Prior to her DJ journey, she grew up in jazz lounges and big band concert halls, unknowingly training her ears by tagging along to her parents’ performances. Being raised by two music teachers led to constant exposure to new sounds, informing what she could give to others one day.
