Early Evening Jazz: Hans Fuerst / Jonah Walt

NO COVER 4:30pm Show

Pianist Hans Fuerst and saxophonist Jonah Walt play and improvise an eclectic mix of jazz, video game music, and original compositions with the intimate touch that only a duo can bring.

Hans Fuerst is a Twin Cities-based pianist with a passion for video game music. Drawing inspiration from jazz legends like McCoy Tyner and iconic composers like Gō Ichinose of Pokémon fame, Hans blends the influences of Black American and Japanese music into his unique style. He writes, performs, improvises, and records to share the magic of video game music, celebrating its rich, emotional language with a wider audience.

Jonah Walt is a saxophonist and composer from Hastings, MN. Jonah recently completed his undergraduate degree in applied instrumental performance on saxophone at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He has spearheaded projects from his funk-fusion group of 7 years—Bok Choy—to his own compositions for big bands, small groups, and other more unique and specific orchestrations. One of his current projects active in the Twin Cities and nearby areas is a fusion trio, called Chroma, inspired by the Chris Potter Circuits trio.
