8:00pm and 10:00pm Shows (Ticketed Separately)

Legendary Ethiopian saxophonist Feleke Hailu travels to Minneapolis to perform with his daughter Rediet and their band. Expect high-energy, soulful, and powerful sets filled with Ethiopian classics, Ethio-jazz grooves, heartfelt vocals, and spontaneous improvisation.

Feleke Hailu is a legendary Ethiopian musician, music instructor, arranger, and saxophonist with decades of experience in shaping and preserving Ethiopian music.

Feleke is the son of Colonel Hailu Woldemariam, a highly respected musician who played trumpet and violin and conducted the prestigious Imperial Bodyguard Band. Feleke continues this rich musical legacy through his own work in performance, arrangement, and teaching. He is also widely recognized by many audiences from his appearance as one of the early judges on Ethiopian Idol

Even after relocating to the United States, Feleke has continued to perform and teach music through one-on-one instruction, often working closely alongside his family, carrying the tradition forward through both performance and mentorship. He taught bassist Yohannes Tona, who now plays with Cory Wong and leads his own bands in the Twin Cities. Feleke also performs regularly in the DMV music scene with groups such as Selam Sound and Ethio Band.

Rediet Hailu is an Ethiopian American saxophonist and vocalist based in the Washington, DC, area. She comes from a deeply musical family as the daughter of Feleke Hailu, a legendary Ethiopian musician, and Martha Tilahun, a pianist. Rediet performs with Selam Sound in the DMV area while continuing to develop her own identity as a solo artist. She brings a fresh sound rooted in Ethio-jazz, blending Ethiopian musical traditions with expressive improvisation and soulful performance.
