Kenny Reichert and Ella Grace will reunite for a special guitar/trumpet duo performance. The first set will include original contemporary jazz compositions from both artists, and the second set will shift to a more ambient experience. In the second set, the duo will use experimental pedal setups to create unique, freely improvised soundscapes. This duo pushes the boundaries of creative freedom to craft a relaxing, meditative listening experience.
Ella Grace is a trumpeter, composer, educator, and producer labeled a “rising star” in the Twin Cities jazz scene. Ella began her performance career in Minnesota’s salient youth jazz ensembles, including Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands, the Minnesota All-State Jazz Band, and the Dakota Combo. In 2021, Ella moved to Chicago to pursue a degree in jazz studies at DePaul University. Trumpeter Marcus Printup says Ella’s sound is “big, soulful, human” and “unlike anyone I’ve ever heard before,” and Ella plays to share that sound with the world. Ella now performs throughout the Midwest with several ensembles, including the Ella Grace MNTET. Led by Ella on trumpet, the MNTET is a flexible group that performs Ella’s original compositions in a variety of neo-jazz and jazz fusion styles.
Recognized by DownBeat magazine as "a distinctive player and composer," Kenny Reichert has established himself as a compelling guitarist with an expressive, refined approach to his instrument. Blending lyricism with harmonic sophistication, he crafts music that is both adventurous and accessible. Based between Chicago and Minneapolis, Reichert is an in-demand performer who has collaborated with artists such as Ana Everling, Russ Johnson, Lenard Simpson, Alyssa Allgood, Geof Bradfield, Clark Sommers, Ethan Philion, and Devin Drobka. He has performed at venues and festivals across the United States and Europe, bringing his music to audiences in intimate and large-scale settings.
