Eiko Ishibashi performs her solo music at Berlin while in town for a special Ryūsuke Hamaguchi film retrospective at the Walker Art Center. Ishibashi, a revered Japanese composer and multi-instrumentalist, is not often seen in the Midwest. Don’t miss this rare performance.

Eiko Ishibashi is a Japanese multi-instrumentalist who has created acclaimed singer-songwriter albums; film, television and theater scores; and improvised music in live settings. She has collaborated with international artists such as Jim O’Rourke, Keiji Haino, Charlemagne Palestine, Merzbow, Giovanni Di Domenico, and Oren Ambarchi. Her own records have been released by labels including Drag City, Black Truffle, and Editions Mego. She composed the soundtracks for Ryūsuke Hamaguchi’s films Drive My Car (2021) and Evil Does Not Exist (2023) and won the Best Original Music award at the Asian Film Awards for each score. She hosts a quarterly show on the global radio platform NTS Radio.
