Early Evening Jazz: Ryan Garmoe & Ethan Ostrow

Ryan Garmoe and Ethan Ostrow will present each individual’s original compositions alongside a few favorite jazz standards.

Ryan Garmoe is a Minneapolis-based trumpeter and composer. He leads Wave Cage, a fusion group recently awarded a Jazz Road Tours grant to tour the Midwest. Their debut, Even You Can See in the Dark, was released on Shifting Paradigm Records in 2023. Beyond Wave Cage, Garmoe writes and performs for various small ensembles and recently released an ambient collection called Sketches. His appearances include Twin Cities Jazz Festival, ArtPrize International Art Competition, Iowa City Jazz Festival, 80/35, Mission Creek, GDP, Greeley Jazz Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, Iowa Soul Festival, and 515 Alive.

Ethan Ostrow is a Minneapolis-based pianist and composer who strives for an intense, lush sound. A recent transplant from New York City, Ostrow has quickly established himself in Minnesota, performing and recording with the Snapped Open Mic band, Omar Abdulkarim, Abinnet Berhanu, Ashley DuBose, Adam Bohanan, Kathleen Johnson, Dakota Andersen, Leslie Vincent, Toussaint Morrison, the Twin Cities Latin Jazz Orchestra, and more at venues such as the Dakota, Crooners, the Cedar Cultural Center, Green Room, and Berlin. Ostrow has performed extensively across the United States and abroad in Havana and Tokyo. His time in NYC included performances at Birdland, Dizzy’s, Chelsea Table & Stage, Nublu, and Rockwood Music Hall with musicians such as Dayna Stephens, Kellin Hanas, and Nick Marziani.
