The Riffin’ Trio plays standards and midcentury pop with lighthearted originals nestled somewhere in between. The group features Nelson Devereaux on saxophone, Ted Olsen on upright bass, and Jacob Hanson on electric guitar.

Minneapolis resident Nelson Ny-Devereaux is a saxophone and multi-wind instrument player who weaves old into new with exciting indie/instrumental pop sensibilities and dazzling technical ability on multiple instruments. Nelson has toured and performed with acts including Bon Iver, Lizzo, Jungle, Paul Cherry, Mild High Club, Craig Finn, and The Hold Steady.
Jacob Hanson is an accomplished guitarist who has been seen and heard with a wide array of high-profile Minnesota artists, including Halloween Alaska, Mason Jennings, Solid Gold, HALEY, The Pines, Actual Wolf, and a slew of side projects. In addition to dozens of studio recordings, he has toured nationally and overseas. With a highly versatile style informed by blues, dub, ’50s pop, and modern rock, Hanson is known for combining sturdy technique with a colorful palette of pedal-based effects to create inspired musical soundscapes.
Ted Olsen is a double bassist from Minneapolis, MN, currently based in New York City. He has released two albums of original music and has been fortunate enough to share the stage with many stellar musicians, including Michael Cain, Dayna Stephens, Javier Santiago, John Raymond, Tim Sparks, Dean Magraw, Aby Wolf, Eric Mayson, and Steve Kenny.
