Saxophonist Joan Hutton and two of her favorite collaborators—Kameron Markworth and Chris Hepola—will perform two sets of music featuring favorite standards and Hutton’s original jazz tunes.

Joan Hutton is a performer, composer, and educator residing in Minneapolis and hailing from Toronto, Canada. Her diverse musical interests have taken her from jazz, free improvisation, and funk to classical, chamber music, and pit orchestras. Hutton performs frequently with a variety of her own jazz groups, including Take That Back, and she is a long-time member of the Ancia Saxophone Quartet. She has released two albums on Shifting Paradigm Records featuring her original compositions: Take That Back (2022) and Splash (2024).
Chris Hepola is a drummer, pianist, and songwriter based in Minneapolis. He organizes many ensembles, including the House on Fire Band and The Real Chuck NORAD, and works to create musical environments that allow for open improvisation and personal expression.
Kameron Markworth is a bassist, composer, and teacher based in Minnesota. A fixture in the Twin Cities music scene, he has performed and recorded with a wide array of artists, having recently appeared on Joan Hutton and Sue Orfield’s fearless album Splash (2024, Shifting Paradigm Records) and Peter Kogan’s Just Before Midnight (2022, KoganNote Records). As an educator, he helps students demystify music theory, develop their ears, and learn how to not panic during a bass solo.
