Early Evening Jazz: Suwal Singh + Zak Khan w/ Fairooz Nazifa

NO COVER 4:30pm Show

Zak Khan (guitar) & Suwal Singh (tabla) explore, extend, and celebrate their music at Berlin. Their duo is a unique expression of the interplay between strings and percussion—featuring the sonic cornucopia of tabla weaving into the colorful vibrations of guitar—melodies, grooves, laughter, tears, heart—hear it, heal it. Special guest Fairooz Nazifa joins for a few tunes.

Artist/producer Zak Khan has been creating music intercontinentally for over a decade. Having frequently produced for artists in his home city of Minneapolis, the Pakistani American artist is ready to show everyone the more personal side of his expression. His music blends the fidelity of the digital age with the timelessness of analog texture to create a sound that is massive and intimate. Khan pays homage to many greats through his art, including Jai Paul, Jon Hopkins, Children of Bodom, and Sade.

Suwal Singh has contributed to the Minnesota music scene as part of SitarTabla (Eastern classical), Yeti Steady (avant-garde soundscapes), MoMoSauce (Nepali music), and Jest (pop rock). He has collaborated with diverse local artists and has appeared at Jazz Central Studios, Icehouse, the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center at Macalester College, Berlin, KFAI, and the Dunsmore Jazz Room at Crooners.

Fairooz Nazifa is a Minneapolis-based singer/songwriter and multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, mixed-media animation, and puppet-making.
