Often considered the most influential bass player of his generation, Cole Davis has an original sound that seamlessly blends indie, jazz, and pop. A figure in both the NYC jazz scene and the Midwest indie scene, Davis has a wide spectrum of collaborators, from members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra to Bon Iver, Julian Lage, and Tim Fain.

Davis’s new album, “Consider It!,” has already garnered worldwide attention, having been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday and Picks of the Month playlists for September 2025. Bandcamp Daily called the record a “slow burning soul-jazz dazzler.” With support from legends such as Bon Iver and Poliça’s Channy Leaneagh—as well as many Twin Cities–based collaborators, including Papa Mbye, KINFU, and Aaron Rice—Davis combines indie, jazz, and pop to create a fresh but familiar sound.

“..instead of devotional jazz stalwartness, [Davis] uses jazz like a root (and rude) tonic in a heady cocktail of processed and acoustic freak folk, swaggering lo-fi R&B, swollen ambient noise and attitude-laden hip-hop.” - JazzTimes
