September artist in residence Brandon Wozniak leads a tribute to Sonny Rollins. “Rollins is my favorite jazz musician and has provided me with endless inspiration,” Wozniak writes. “On the last show of my residency, I wanted to honor his impressive legacy after his recent passing in May.”

Brandon Wozniak is a Minneapolis-based saxophonist, composer, and educator widely recognized as one of Minnesota’s leading voices in modern jazz. After spending six years in New York City and a six-month stint in Shanghai, China, he returned to the Twin Cities in 2006 and has since become a vital presence in the regional and national jazz community.
Known for his expressive tone, adventurous improvisation, and deep musical sensitivity, Wozniak regularly performs with many of the Midwest’s most respected ensembles. He is a longtime member of the Atlantis Quartet, which was recognized as Best Jazz Artist by both City Pages and the Star Tribune, and has collaborated extensively with artists including Dave King, Chris Speed, Chris Bates, Zacc Harris, Bryan Nichols, and Anthony Cox.
Whether performing in intimate clubs, concert halls, or educational settings, Wozniak brings a thoughtful, creative approach to every project. His work continues to shape the sound of Twin Cities jazz while earning recognition for its authenticity, lyricism, and artistic depth.
