Tarik Thornton is a New Orleans native who resides in South Minneapolis. He is known as a crate-digging connoisseur and radio host with a deep reverence for funk, soul, and hip-hop. He is the mind behind the beloved, genre-defying mix show Quiet Village, which airs on Saturdays at 5 p.m. on KRSM Radio, where he has been a resident DJ/host for the past 8 years. On stage, he has shared bills with artists such as Durand Jones and Bun B, always bringing a purposeful, feel-first approach to the decks that resonates with his listeners. In 2015, Tarik and DJ Skizz co-founded *Different Worlds Music Group*, a label that’s become a trusted home for raw, boundary-pushing hip-hop production by the likes of Crimeapple, Roc Marciano, Westside Gunn, and the late Sean Price. Whether curating soundscapes on air, commanding the room behind the turntables, or shaping the culture behind the scenes, Tarik is constantly connecting the dots between rhythm and soul.
