NO COVER 10:00pm Show
Closing the night at Berlin, DJ Tyler Francis will play a set of downtempo house and jazz breaks: a few hours of tunes that Leo from the ‘90s cult classic “Party Girl” might use to warm up the room at Rene's. Expect Nu Groove B-sides, Joi Cardwell, Masters at Work dubs, house-heads doing jazz, and jazz bands doing house.
Tyler Francis fell in love with the house and disco sounds of Chicago at a young age, listening to late-night radio waves just over the border in Kenosha, WI. Guitars were traded for turntables, records were collected, and taste grew over the years spent on dance floors in New York, London, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, and his current home, Minneapolis. Inspired by the dance sounds of the Midwest and the cities visited along the way, the set will feature house and techno 12” records—mostly old and occasionally some new—repurposed to fit the set and setting. Stripped-back, groove-centered, and subtle psychedelia.
