Toby Ramaswamy, Robert Lehmann, DeCarlo Jackson, and Zak Khan will continue developing ideas from Ramaswamy’s residency last summer at Berlin.
Toby Ramaswamy is a composer, drummer, and producer based in Minneapolis. He has been fortunate enough to work with and learn from a diverse group of Minneapolis musicians and artists in a wide range of genres. As a drummer, he plays regularly with artists including Tabah, rice, Barlow, Jo Kellen, Tram, Eric Mayson, Wheel Eternal, and CB.
Robert Lehmann brings together disparate influences, reflecting his experience as a mixed Filipino American in the Midwest. He blends improvised and semi-composed material on pianos, synths, and drum pad—combining neoclassical, jazz, minimalism, ambient, and drone into soundtracky vibes. He invites listeners into an introspective space—to ground themselves and reflect on their own memories—while also encouraging them to connect to a bigger collective experience.
DeCarlo Jackson (Hippo Campus, Sounds of Blackness, Miloe) is a versatile multi-instrumentalist deeply rooted in the rich tradition of Black American improvisation. Inspired by generations of musical innovators, he brings his intuition into every musical endeavor. With a seamless blend of techniques and genres spanning decades of Black expression, DeCarlo's music resonates with authenticity and vitality.
Emerging artist and producer Zak Khan has been creating music intercontinentally for over a decade. Frequently collaborating and producing for artists in his current home city of Minneapolis, the Pakistani American artist is ready to show everyone the more personal side of his expression. His music blends the fidelity of the digital age with the timelessness of analog texture to create a sound that is both massive and intimate. Khan pays homage to many greats through his art, including Jai Paul, Jon Hopkins, Children of Bodom, and Sade.
