7:30pm Show
Giorgio Moroder is one of the titans of modern music. Not only did he produce many of the 1980s’ greatest hits and pave the way for electronic dance music, he composed scores or soundtracks for more than a dozen movies, including The NeverEnding Story, Top Gun, American Gigolo, Scarface, and a new edit of the silent film Metropolis. This February, Berlin and the Trylon Cinema copresent a month of Moroder magic: movies every weekend at the Trylon and music for one night only at Berlin.
At the center of Berlin’s Moroder tribute, Leopard Tree Dream—an eponym from the dark, atmospheric synth piece from the Cat People soundtrack—will provide a 30-minute set of original music exploring the more abstract sounds of Moroder’s catalog. (Think 1975’s pre-disco, post-Krautrock minimal synth masterpiece Einzelgänger.) The proto-techno synthesizer workouts of Aaron Baum will render brains stupified while Alex Nutter reimagines the danceable grooves made on classic drum machines favored by Moroder (e.g., LinnDrum, SDS-V). This set will marry the computer’s spirit with human flesh and explore the experimental palette Moroder used while inspired by artists such as Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk.
Before Leopard Tree Dream, Mudd will play selections from Moroder’s movie scores.
To close out the evening, Dory Kahalé will explore the synthesizer-driven magic of electronic disco's golden age, spinning Giorgio Moroder's groundbreaking ‘70s and early ‘80s dance productions mixed with ‘70s space disco, Italo disco, and modern productions (including his own).

Dory Kahalé is a Beirut-born, Berlin-raised, and Minneapolis-based DJ, producer, and electronic music veteran who has been an integral part of the Midwest techno and house scenes since his first music release in 1993. With over 50 releases under more than a dozen aliases (e.g., Dirty McKenzie, Ralph Laurenn, DJ Apollo), Kahalé has demonstrated exceptional versatility across electronic music genres and beyond.
Kahalé’s deep connection to Giorgio Moroder's legacy is undeniable. In 2012, he won first prize in an international remix contest sanctioned by Swedish record label MB Disco for Moroder's "E=MC²" under his Dirty McKenzie alias, showcasing his mastery of the Giorgio Moroder sound that defined the ‘70s and early ’80s disco era. Throughout his career, he has channeled the spirit of Moroder’s pioneering dance music production style, particularly when working in the synthesizer-driven, four-on-the-floor aesthetic of classic Italo disco. He even opened for Moroder himself at the iconic First Avenue in 2018. Kahalé combines technical prowess with an encyclopedic knowledge of dance music history, making him an ideal dance music selector for the night.

Mudd got her start DJing in her home neighborhood of Uptown, Minneapolis. As a record collector and former Radio K host, she approaches her sets with a freeform, discovery-driven style. Drawing inspiration from left-field disco, funky punk basslines, and synth-filled melodies, her sound is at once dreamy, gritty, and danceable.
