Ian Duerr is a St. Paul–based musician and composer who performs on both piano and guitar. After earning a BFA in guitar performance, he took a job on a cruise ship as a jazz pianist, which quickly shaped his approach to the instrument while performing in a jazz trio night after night for five years. He later relocated to New York City, where he spent over a decade working as both a bandleader and sideman, performing with top-tier players and appearing at many of the city’s premier venues. His piano playing and compositions are influenced by Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, and Oscar Peterson while remaining personal, reactive, and sometimes unorthodox.
Mark Feinman is a composer, musician, and producer from Minneapolis. With over 20 years of performance and composition experience, his music has been featured on albums, film, TV, animated series, and commercials. Feinman has led masterclasses at universities and performed at festivals and venues around the United States and Europe. He co-leads the trio La Lucha and is the co-founder of the songwriting team Moonlit Musica.
Steve Pikal has been playing music professionally for many years and is highly regarded as a first-call bass player in the Twin Cities jazz scene. He has had the pleasure of backing legendary performers such as Cab Calloway, Bob Hope, and Margaret Whiting. He enjoys keeping very active playing locally and nationally touring, recording, plus on many music festival circuits working with top bands and artists from all around the country. Some of his additional playing credits include the Jim Cullum Jazz Band, Butch Miles, Artie Shaw Orchestra, the Barbary Coast Dixieland Show Band, Dick Hyman, Delfeayo Marsalis, Harry Allen, Jon Weber, the Wolverines Big Band, Butch Thompson, Hal Smith, and the Bill Evans New Orleans Jazz Band.
