James Samuel “Cornbread” Harris Sr. is a blues artist and singer who has been professionally playing music nonstop since the 1950s. He has shared the stage with many great artists—including his son, Jimmy Jam. He is known practically everywhere he goes, and he has an intergenerational fanbase full of folks who revel in his blues-based yet varied musical genres performed with originality and skill. He was recently the subject of “Deeper Blues: The Life, Songs, and Salvation of Cornbread Harris,” a biography by respected author Andrea Swensson.
