Early Evening Jazz: Abinnet Berhanu / Lasse Corson / Ryan Freitas

NO COVER 4:30pm Show

This two-set show will feature the formidable trio of Ahndenet bandleader Abinnet Berhanu, new-to-town saxophonist Ryan Freitas, and Kennedy Center resident Lasse Corson. It’s an official Twin Cities Jazz Festival event!

Virginia transplant Abinnet Berhanu started his fascination with music on the trumpet but later fell in love with the sheer power of drums. A passionate, explosive drummer, Abinnet has had the opportunity to work with Steve Wilson, the Minnesota Orchestra, Bruce Harris, Russ Johnson, JD Allen, Allyn Johnson, John D’Earth, Justin Kauflin, Russell Wilson and Mike Hawkins. He has appeared at the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, the White House, Blues Alley, Bohemian Caverns, DC Jazz Festival, Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Embassy of Sweden, the Embassy of Gabon, and the Embassy of Australia.

Lasse Corson is a Minneapolis-born multi-instrumentalist, composer, and sound engineer. He studied under Bill Charlap and Johnathan Blake at the prestigious music school in William Paterson University and recently did a stint at the Kennedy Center with the notorious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program. He is also a producer/beatmaker and drums and produces for his band Neptune And The Sailor, which is based in New Jersey. Lasse aims to incorporate his multiple talents into his own original music.
